Brooke and Stephen try to convince Beth to stay, Katie fills Nick and Bridget in on Beth's illness, and Ridge makes it clear to Phoebe he doesn't want Steffy to see Marcus, while sparks fly between the young couple.
Brooke and Stephen find Beth with Hope at Brooke's house. Brooke tells her mother that Katherine, the babysitter called them and wonders what brought her there. Beth doesn't know, but Hope says she came to see her to say goodbye. Hope tells Beth she doesn't want her to leave and Brooke says no one does. Beth doesn't want to be a burden, but Brooke insists that it's their turn to take care of her. Hope asks what a burden is and Brooke says, "Your grandmother isn't one. No mater what she thinks." Stephen wants to take Hope out of the room so Beth and Brooke can talk, but first Hope asks her grandma to say goodbye before she leaves. Brooke says she's not going anywhere and Hope tells her grandma she loves her.
Nick comes home and Katie tells him about Beth. Nick wonders where she went and Katie says her dad and Brooke are looking for her. Nick assures Katie they will find Beth, but Katie wonders what happens if they do. How can they help her? Nick asks why Beth didn't tell anyone about her issues and Katie says, "Pride. She doesn't want to be a burden." Katie vows to not let Beth just disappear and Bridget walks in the door. Katie fills her in on the situation and asks if Beth's situation is a normal effect of having a stroke. Bridget says she can't be sure because she needs to know more about her treatment and diagnosis and offers to have Beth come in for some tests. Bridget leaves to make some calls and Nick says, "If there's a good cause. She's on it." Katie thanks him again for bringing Beth back to L.A., but Nick makes it seem like no big deal.
Once alone, Brooke asks Beth why she didn't come to them for help. Beth thinks there was no point since soon she won't remember that they are family. Brooke wants to treasure the time they have left and calls Katie. She tells her sister that Beth is with her and is not going anywhere. Beth thinks she can go back to her life in Paris and be with her friends until things get too bad and Brooke yells at her for talking to her like she's a stranger. Beth wants to leave, but Brooke tells her she can't disappear now that they are back together. Beth says she is disappearing no matter where she is and she won't subject her family to that. Brooke convinces Beth to stay the night until her flight leaves in the morning and then tries to convince her to stay for good. Beth says she doesn't want the love her family feels for her to turn to resentment, but Brooke pulls at her mother's heartstrings saying the little girl she gave the music box to all those years ago doesn't want her to leave.
Bridget comes back downstairs and says she made an appointment for Beth for tomorrow and Nick wonders if she'll agree to undergo the tests. Katie says they won't give her a choice! Nick hugs and kisses Bridget and Katie looks uncomfortable so she goes upstairs to lie down. Bridget worries about Katie after all she's been through and Nick tells her Katie is lucky to have her by her side and kisses her. Katie stands at the top of the stairs and looks crushed as she watches them kiss.
Stephen returns and tells Beth that Hope wants her to stay in her room tonight. Brooke tells him she's having a hard time convincing Beth to stay. Stephan apologizes for not being there for her and Beth says she won't stay and be a burden to her family. Beth says she is still capable of making plans for herself and doesn't need or want her family to make them for her. Brooke and Stephen try to convince her how much her family loves and needs her and Brooke asks her not to cut them out of her life.
In his office, Ridge talks with Phoebe about Marcus and Steffy. He's upset that Steffy would keep Marcus's secret from her family knowing it would be a bad situation. Ridge says it's not like her to do that and that's what worries him. Phoebe can't believe Steffy would put Marcus ahead of the family. Ridge questions what she knows about Steffy's feelings for Marcus and she tells him she saw them on a date at the Bikini Beach. Ridge is furious that Donna has sunk her hooks into the family and that now her son is going after his daughter, but Phoebe thinks Steffy and Marcus really like each other. Phoebe thinks maybe if Ridge leaves it alone, it will go away. Ridge says he can't do that because he has to do what's best for his daughter and Phoebe looks nervous.
In the S&R office, Marcus and Steffy enjoy more playful banter and Marcus suggests they go out to Bikini Beach again. They both say they had a great time the last time they went and smile adoringly at each other. They talk about news getting out that he is Donna's son, but they quickly go back to flirting. Marcus suggests they go bowling and Steffy surprises him by saying she loves bowling and that she's pretty good at it and they make a date.
